BEHIND THE SHOOT: Elegant + Modern Editorial for Green Wedding Shoes

Just in time for spring, we're revisiting our ultra romantic styled shoot in downtown LA with all the juicy styling details from head bird and creative director, Jenni:

For a fashion editorial it's our aim to show several looks all within a certain vibe. For this one, I wanted each look to be a unique take on bridal...things that haven't been done before but all with a heightened, elegant feel. From a black dress with a gray veil to an elaborate Elizabethan-inspired hairstyle to a super chic jumpsuit, we weren't playing it safe and loved the result. Green Wedding Shoes is one of our fave spots for pushing the bridal envelope and the super cool downtown LA 7th Place venue was the perfect opportunity. We had tons of cool stuff to play with from our fave designers Shareen, Emmy London, Marie Canning, Liv Hart, Melinda Rose Design and more.

Look One:

Long sleeved silk blush gown from Rebecca Schoneveld
Elaborate updo with a combo of pins and hairvine by Marie Canning
Blush suede Blossom shoes with matching opera clutch by Emmy London

We wanted to go full romance on this one. The blush tones are so elegant and still feels bridal with a modern twist. The shoes and clutch are the perfect addition for some truly special pieces that add a little bling to the simplicity of the dress. We were inspired by Elizabethan-era hairstyles, heavily adorned with hair piled high. I love the handcrafted porcelain pieces by Marie Canning because they offer a matte finish if you're not into sparkly but still want a bold look. We coupled her hairvine along with a set of 10 individual pins scattered throughout the 'do.

Look Two:

Emmy London Evelyn wedges
Blusher veil

So the jumpsuit is pretty killer...and a great option for a nontraditional bride or for a second reception look (or rehearsal dinner!). We added another incredible statement from Marie Canning, her show stopping Gypsophila bridal crown with dozens of little porcelain flowers hand wired to perfection. We also paired with a simple blusher veil which is such a cool retro look that's great for a courthouse wedding or if you want a hint of a veil without going for the length. And finally, our Emmy London Evelyn wedges with blush suede and mother of pearl detail are the perfect pairing for a modern look, and give you all the height and glam with the comfort and practicality of a wedge.

Look Three:

Two piece strapless gown by Rebecca Schoneveld
Porecelain jewelry by Marie Canning
English net blush veil

It's tough for me to go headpiece-free...but in this case the blush veil is such a statement and the little hints of porcelain in the jewelry from Marie Canning were a perfect balance. The earrings, necklace and bracelet are all just invidual porcelain flowers and compliment each other so beautifully. Hint...they also make a great bridesmaid gift!!

Look Four:

Black gown by Shareen Bridal
Grey veil by Melinda Rose Design
Statement necklace by Liv Hart
Silver halo by Emmy London
Cinderella shoes by Emmy London

I'm such a huge Shareen fan (she made me wedding dress...can ya blame me?) and I not only love her bridal line, but this gown in black is such a stunning look if you just aren't into the whole white dress thing. It could also make a really beautiful bridesmaid gown. We paired with Emmy London's teardrop halo that's such a great, easy piece that just slides right on and adds an instant burst of old Hollywood glam. We also tried it with Liv Hart's Giverny necklace, available in both gold and silver, which is so stunning and is certainly an heirloom piece you'd treasure long after your wedding (and wear to other fancy events, obvs). And a bride in black can't have any ordinary veil, so we added a sheer shimmer gray veil from Melinda Rose to bring the whole elegantly moody look together.

Decor, Florals and Dessert Table:

Our bird besties Revel Petals brought the florals and design to the next level with an insane flower backdrop (she individually hung each flower on hand painted string...what!), matte black dish ware, and a killer dessert table by Sweet & Saucy Shop and Xan Chocolates.

Until the next shoot,
